ACCESS

FREE CERTIFICATION

An accessible introduction to the framework before deeper certification or structured access.

What free certification is

Free Certification offers a simple and accessible introduction to the core ideas behind CIP. It is designed to help individuals understand the language, principles, and responsibilities that shape the wider framework. It is a starting point rather than a full professional pathway.

Who it is for

This route is best suited to individuals who are new to the framework, curious about certification, or looking for a clearer understanding of how provenance, rights, and consent apply to creative work.

  • Creators
  • Early career professionals
  • Independent practitioners
  • Students
  • Teams exploring the framework for the first time

What it does not replace

Free Certification does not replace the formal certification paths within CIP. It is not the same as a professional designation, an audit-based route, or a full role-specific certification outcome.

The cip.md Generator's certified output — with real badge URLs, credential dates, and Rights Registry verification — is only available after completing a formal certification track. The Generator preview is available to all users but produces a pre-certification draft, not a verified declaration.

Free Certification is an entry point into the framework, not a substitute for full certification.

Recognition

Successful completion of Free Certification may lead to a simple completion certificate or introductory credential. Formal badges, designations, and certification marks — and the certified Generator output — are reserved for the relevant full pathways within CIP.
